Gram-worthy pizza

Located on the rooftop of Jucy Snooze (47 Camp Street), Miss Lucy’s is a beautifully designed space with epic views to match. The pizza bar has recently released a new menu just in time for the summer months. Choose from a large range of pizzas, tasty salads and sides, including plenty of vegan and vegetarian options. You’ll also want to order one of their cocktails, which are some of the best in town. I’m partial to the Aperol Spritz, especially on a sunny day. The branding here is on point with impeccable attention-to-design detail, making it super ‘gram worthy.

Into the night

Yonder is switching things up with a refreshing all-day food offering alongside evening entertainment, Yonder Live. Stop by 14 Church Street for dinner to sample an inventive summer menu. From fried cheese balls and fried chicken to fresh ceviche, pork belly and a range of summer salads, you really can’t go wrong. Yonder caters to all diets and everything is clearly marked on the menu, making it super easy to find dishes you’ll love. Their cocktail lineup is equally impressive. I loved the Summer Spritz, which is Yonder’s take on an Aperol Spritz, but with rhubarb. You’ll find me attempting to recreate it for the next few months.

Food with a view

For an elevated Kiwi breakfast, I can’t go past Queenstown mainstay Vudu Café and Larder (16 Rees Street). Constantly heaving, the menu ranges from healthy to indulgent with an excellent selection of smoothies, egg-based dishes and cabinet treats. Grab a seat at one of the communal tables overlooking Lake Wakatipu and tuck into poached eggs, halloumi, sautéed spinach and kumara hash alongside an AllPress coffee. Trust me, you’ll never want to leave.

Pinot, please!

As one of the top three pinot noir regions in the world, Central Otago has its fair share of wineries and wine tours. In fact, there are seven new wine tour operates this year alone. Alpine Wine Tours has a particularly comprehensive offering with four different packages, all with intimate group sizes and a generous selection of vinos to sample. Get ready for amazing views through Gibbston Valley.

A Fish & Chip First

Would you believe me if I told you Queenstown didn’t have a fish and chip shop three years ago? That’s what inspired Anna and Erik Arndt to open up Erik’s Fish and Chips at 13 Earl Street. They haven’t looked back and recently took home two accolades at the Small Business Awards 2018. They’ve been hugely successful with locals and tourists alike, prompting a second location in Wanaka (54 Ardmore Street).

The menu is extensive and they do a tasty fish fry-up, but probably most noteworthy is the deep-fried kiwifruit. It’s the perfect mix of sweet and sour and that’s all I’ll say. Another cool thing about Erik’s is that everything on the menu is gluten-free, but you’d never know. On sunny days, customers take their meals down to the beach or pop aboard Perky’s floating bar for unobstructed views of Lake Wakatipu, tap beers and Central Otago wines.
