Men’s Designer Bag Edit
For Spring 2017, Louis Vuitton has taken men’s bags on a storybook safari. For most large brands, men’s bags are something of an afterthought. If a satchel or tote design works well in the women’s line, it gets simplified, enlarged and made more neutral in order to appeal to men. Louis Vuitton puts more thought and detail into its men’s bags than most other premier designer brands combined, and it really showed on the Spring 2017 runway in Paris earlier this year. The bags had a safari feel to them and the collection’s main colour story was blue, which made the whole thing feel like a highly stylised storybook adventure.
Say goodbye to Cleavage
It’s the end of an era for the cleavage according to Vogue (December issue). The trend of enhancing one’s assets has been around for centuries, however, fashion is taking a step back from bust boosting. Vogue contributor Kathleen Baird-Murray says, “The cleavage – those magnificent mounds pushed together to display sexual empowerment, to seduce, to inspire lust or even just to show off – is over, or at least, taking a well-earned break.” She adds, “The t*** will not be out for the lads. Or for anyone else, for that matter.”
